When to get tested
You should consider a sexual health screen if you have a new sexual partner, have had unprotected sex, are experiencing unusual discharge, pain, itching or sores, have been told a partner has tested positive for an STI, or simply want routine screening for peace of mind.
Many STIs have no symptoms at all. Chlamydia in particular is often asymptomatic in women and, left untreated, can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and affect fertility. Regular screening is the only way to know your status.
How it works
Book online or walk in. You will see a doctor (not a nurse) who will take a brief history and discuss which tests are appropriate. Sample collection involves a blood draw and self-collected or clinician-collected swabs. Results are delivered confidentially by phone or text, typically within 24 hours (or 6 hours for FAST Screen packages). If treatment is needed, it can be prescribed and dispensed at the same visit.
Your privacy
As part of a multi-disciplinary medical clinic, no other patients or visitors will know the reason for your visit. You can pay in cash (nothing appears on your bank statement), register under a pseudonym, and we never contact a partner or your GP about your results.
Gynaecological follow-up
If your sexual health screen identifies a condition that needs gynaecological investigation, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, recurrent infections, or abnormal cervical findings, you are already in the right place. Mr Hikmat Naoum, Consultant Gynaecologist, is available for follow-up consultations, pelvic ultrasound, and smear tests without needing a separate referral elsewhere.
For HPV vaccination (Gardasil 9), we offer private appointments at Gynae Clinic.
If you have discharge symptoms and are unsure whether you need an STI screen or a gynaecological consultation, call us and we will advise.
